Village of The Mong, an attractive ecological tourism zone of Hua La commune
The first thing that appears in your eyes once you step into the area of Muong village is the superb beauty of the nature with high mountains and green forests. The uneven rows of mountains constitute a range which is like a dancing dragon watching itself in the water of Nam La Stream. On the sides of hills live various kinds of trees such as coffee, apricot, bullace, pine, bamboo trees.

For further sights, you can watch a forest of trees with valuable timbers like dinh huong(close), sen (Timber of Bassia), nghien, thong (fir), tram (fragrant wood), etc., and tens of kinds of orchids with various colors. In the spring, blossoms of apricot, bullace and ban all open their petals and herds of bees animatedly fly to find out honey, making forests more colorful than ever. In the winter, buds of coral flowers flourish, making hillsides full of blazing red. The cold weather of the winter makes the wallow in the hot stream of the village named Bo Nam Un become more wonderful than ever. The

hot stream is 5 km southeast of Son La town. Hot water of the stream helps ease diseases and relax. The temperature of the water change in accordance with seasons or weather. The open-air temperature of the water is 300 C. The water is limpid, colorless and up to requirements about quality in compliance with the regulation on quality management on mineral water and bottled mineral water of the Ministry of Industry, Science and Environment dated October 23rd 1997.

You can also study cultural features of the Thai ethnic minority group, which began using letters for writing communication in the 16th century. Currently, the village consists of 106 households of the Thai native people. They live in tile-roofed houses on stilts locating along hillsides and live on forging, making brocade, knitting, producing pottery products, etc.

together with the development of wet rice agriculture, farmers here know how to make up well-known wild dishes such as xoi made of sweet-smelling glutinous, com lam made of rice which is soaked in water for few hours and then put into a young bamboo cylinder heated by charcoal, grilled fishes, dried meat, special vegetable and bamboo shoots of the mountainous area like mang day, mang boi, mang dang, nam huong, nam moi, rau sang, som lom, etc.

Sitting around flickering flame, you will be enjoyed special flavors of dishes and drink ruou can (wine drunk out of a jar through pipes) in the moonlight. The hospitality of native people and charming landscape will enable you to forget your daily business and tiredness after a long trip. The harmonization of drum-beat, gong-beat and the melodious singing of wild birds will make you calmer than ever.
